Shalom,

I'm a German student and I'm planning to go to Israel in a few weeks in order to do some research at Jerusalem and Tel Aviv University, and I'd like to stay in Israel around 3 weeks.

Now my question is whether there is the possibility for a foreign student to rent a private apartment or room for a couple of weeks, maybe with an Israeli family... The problem is that a hotel or hostel is just too expensive for me and maybe a certain kind of private accomodation would be cheaper. How can I get in touch with people, preferably in or around Jerusalem, who have a room to rent?

Most of the Israeli web-sites for private rentals, etc. are in Hebrew, however, you might want to take a look at some of the online english speaking groups, such as Tanglo, at Yahoo groups for Tel Aviv and Janglo at janglo.net for Jerusalem and see if you can post your request there, you are bound to get a variety of helpful suggestions.
