    I must visit Jerusalem

    Dear person who replies to this website;

         I will visit Jerusalem in next six months for research purposes into a novel for the Jewish wars, AD 66-73.

         I have two questions.  The first is easy, but not for me.  I am aware that flight and costs in Israel depend on the season and the religious festivals.  There are only 4 seasons, but so many festivals.  I have searched El Al and other services for flying to Israel (from Toronto, Canada), but cannot understand the price patterns.  It might be due to the the many religious celebrations, but they are not posted except for the Jewish ones.  I found prices listed from $750 one way, to $2500 one way!

         Also, I want a specific tour of Jerusalem, over a three day period, (broken up or not).  I want to see Warren's Shaft, the Gihon Springs, Hezekiah's tunnel and the Siloam Pool.  I also want to tour Israel and the Old Jerusalem City, circa the Jewish Wars Ad 66-73.  I am currently writing a fictional novel of that period.  Their are many myth-tellers in Israel I am sure, but I want someone who can tell me history from that time:  myth telling would be a bonus.

         Thank you.  Kevin

     Hi,

    As to your first question about airfares - the airlines set rates based on their own parameters.  There are numerous websites where you may be able to find good rates on flights to Israel, or do so with the help of a reputable travel agent.  Their are many airlines that fly from Toronto to Israel with a stop or change of planes in Europe, so the options are there.

    As to touring Jerusalem, your best bet would be to work with a private tour guide who would tailor the tour to your specific needs.  All licensed tour guides are well versed in the history and archaelogy of Jerusalem and Israel as they are required to take extensive courses in these subjects and pass demanding exams to get their license.

    We look forward to welcoming you to Israel.
