    Backpacking, Hitchhiking, Camping

Hi, I would like to visit Israel next year, but I would like to hitchhike and camp throughout Israel. Is this acceptable (both by laws and their customs)? Is it safe? Would people in the smalls towns find this weird (weird enough to call the police or take matters in their own hands)? If it is okay to do this, can someone give me some advise on how to both camp and hitchhike? Thanks

You can check out the Israel Youth Hostel Association site. Book in advance they fill quickly. www.iyha.co.il

Camping is available in many of the national parks across the country. check out www.parks.gov.il and plug into the english and you can see whether they have camping or not. Hitchhiking - you will see people doing it but its is NOT adviseable.

Israel has an amazing bus system. Egged is the major transportation company. You can check out their site too.
