    Israel for people with disabilities

Which tours can you offer to people with disabilities? My father wants to see the holy land and he's in a wheelchair. We live in the UK.

There's a great book called "Access Israel" which gives all sorts of information for people with handicaps who want to visit Israel. The book was written by Gordon Couch and published in London by Quiller Press. I highly recommend it! I suggest that the best way for you to plan a tour for your father is to contact private guides who have vans which can accommodate wheelchairs and understand the situation to can provide the best service. I can highly recommend Yitzhak Dassa, a licensed Israeli guide. You can write to him at dassa_yizhak@yahoo.com. suzanne

Re: Israel for people with disabilities

On the whole Israel is a fairly good country to visit for people with disabilities with respect to tourism. It can be more difficult in the cities.

This is  the english site for the Israel Nature and National Parks Protection Authority if you want to travel on your own some days. Some of the parks are specifically marked as wheelchair accessible. It also give opening times and telphone numbers. You can always telephone to check with them even if it isn't written there. Websites are not always updated.
