I would like to plan a camping trip to Israel, but I can't find any sites on the internet. Does anyone know what the regulations for pitching a tent are - ie can you pitch on the beach, any forest or clearing or are there special areas?

There are special places for that. Some people do pitch a tent on the beach, but it's illegal. For a list of approved camping sites look here: http://www.mototracks.co.il/nightcamps.htm (I'm afraid it's in Hebrew :-( Also, some national parks offer camping sites.
