Shalom Mike - well, the only specific thing I can tell you is that on the night of May 7th, we will close the Yom HaZikaron ceremony at Har Herzl and immediately have the opening celebrations (there) for Yom Ha'Atzma'ut... those celebrations will continue in downtown Jerusalem basically all night - music, dancing in the streets, etc. The next day (May 8th), the national parks, Dead Sea beaches, city parks and other places all over the country will be filled to overflowing with Israelis grilling everything in sight!
As well, military bases and military memorial sites will be open for visits, there will be special exhibits at the Israel Museum and other places and special entrance fees all over the place (some will be free).
Those are the standard things - past that, we are all waiting for a list from the municipality and others as to what, exactly, will be going on here in Jerusalem and elsewhere!
One note - the ceremony and celebration at Har Herzl is usually packed, plus traffic around there will be impossible. I always watch it all on TV - best seat in the house! But DO go downtown later to dance and sing and whatever in the streets of Jerusalem!
Hope that's helpful.
