I have a US passport with an issue date of April 7, 2008.  Do I have to wait until after October 7, 2008 (six months) to visit Israel?  I really would like to come around Sept. 27, 2008 to Oct. 10 or 11, 2008.  This is just short of the six month date.  Do all those people who come with tour groups have to wait six months? Is there anyway possible to visit as those date are perfect for my schedule.

Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

The six month requirement refers to how much longer until your passport expires.  There is no limitation on travelling, even right after you get a new passport.
