  • Re: travel from Jerusalem to Petra, Jordon

I don't recall seeing a bus stop on the main road (Route 90) near the terminal, so I'm pretty sure you'll have to just go to the bus station and get a taxi. But in Eilat, the taxi fares are not high at all. suzanne

  • Re: touring Bethlehem

Shalom teabird. It is safe, and there are many ways to go to Bethlehem. If you want to go totally on your own, that's also possible by taking one of the blue & white shuttle buses from near Damascus Gate (be sure to ask which one goes to Bethlehem...) for less than 4 shekels each. Then, you will go through the checkpoint and have to ...

  • Re: planing a trip in israel.

Shalom David - you've received good responses from a few others. A lot, though, depends on what sort of tour you want - religious, secular, cultural, archaeological, whatever... there are seemingly millions of tour operators out there offering all sorts of standard and customized tours. As well, tour guides (like me) offer specialty tours as ...

  • Re: Yom Ha'tsmaut

Shalom Mike - well, the only specific thing I can tell you is that on the night of May 7th, we will close the Yom HaZikaron ceremony at Har Herzl and immediately have the opening celebrations (there) for Yom Ha'Atzma'ut... those celebrations will continue in downtown Jerusalem basically all night - music, dancing in the streets, etc. The ...

  • Re: travel from Jerusalem to Petra, Jordon

And the fastest, easiest way to go is Route 1 from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea and then on Route 90 South, past the Dead Sea and straight down the Arava through the Negev Desert ...

  • Re: tour guide

Oreets is quite right... as well, hiring a guide who can help you plan the best possible, but still flexible itinerary will only make your trip more enjoyable. It's great to explore on your own, of course, but you surely don't want to 1) keep driving over the same road again and again simply because you are not sure of the way or 2) miss ...

  • Re: Registered Tour Guides

While all the guides shown in the link that David gave are registered, not all registered guides are on that list. For instance, I only recently sent in my details to be listed there. There's another list available at http://www.tour-guides.co.il/search.php (enter a name in the box marked "name" and click the "search" ...

  • Re: Israel for people with disabilities

There's a great book called "Access Israel" which gives all sorts of information for people with handicaps who want to visit Israel. The book was written by Gordon Couch and published in London by Quiller Press. I highly recommend it! I suggest that the best way for you to plan a tour for your father is to contact private ...
